U Celebrates Distinguished and Honorary Alumni at Founders Day Banquet

To commemorate the founding of the University of Utah on Feb. 28, 1850, the University of Utah Alumni Association will celebrate the accomplishments of five outstanding alumni and one honorary alumnus at the annual Founders Day banquet, Thursday, Feb. 20, at the Little America Hotel, beginning with a reception at 6 p.m. and dinner at 7 p.m.

U Grad Student Named 2014 Gates Cambridge Scholar

Annika Pecchia-Bekkum, a 2013 graduate of the University of Utah and current graduate student, has been awarded a prestigious Gates Cambridge Scholarship to pursue a Ph.D. in medical science at the University of Cambridge. She is the second Gates Cambridge Scholar for the University of Utah, and the first to have completed undergraduate degrees at the U.
