“This past week, public reports of alleged misconduct by a former swim coach and of the University of Utah’s response to those allegations, have called into question the university’s processes and our commitment to our student-athletes. Though I cannot comment on specific allegations, I can state unequivocally that any conduct by a staff member or student that jeopardizes the safety and well-being of any student, will not be tolerated.

Academic Analytics Ranks the University of Utah and 22 of its Programs among the Best in the Nation

Academic Analytics recently ranked the University of Utah (the U) as 31st overall in faculty scholarly productivity among the nation’s public comprehensive universities and 28th in the number of federally funded grants received per faculty member. In addition to the U’s overall national ranking, 23 of its graduate disciplines were ranked among the top 25 percent in the nation.

University of Utah Celebrates Distinguished and Honorary Alumni at 2013 Founders Day Banquet

To commemorate the founding of the University of Utah on Feb. 28, 1850, the University of Utah Alumni Association will celebrate the accomplishments of four outstanding alumni and one honorary alumnus, at the annual Founders Day Banquet on Thursday Feb. 28 at The Little America Hotel, beginning with a reception at 6 p.m. and dinner at 7 p.m.

Innovative Symposium Looks for Creativity and Beauty in Sustainability

New Year’s Resolutions Can Be Effective

Resolutions or formal commitments to better behavior can indeed be effective, say researchers at the University of Utah and in the Netherlands at Wageningen University and the University of Leiden, who collaborated on a meta-analysis on the effect of making commitments to pro-environmental behavior. Their study has been published in the January issue of the journal Environment and Behavior.

University of Utah Food Drive Makes the Season Brighter

They delivered on their promise to the Utah Food Bank to make this year’s Unrivaled Rivalry Food Drive a huge success. Their efforts, and the generosity of a vast number of U supporters, resulted in an impressive 400,030 pounds of donated food and $85,424 in monetary contributions.
