Utes Want Revenge in “Bleed Red” Blood Drive

Attention all University of Utah students, faculty, alumni and fans! Your chance to save a life and support the U is here. Not only will there be blood on the football field when the Utah Utes and the Utah State Aggies meet in Logan, a lot more blood will be banked for the community as well. The University of Utah and Utah State University will go head to head in the annual “Bleed Red” blood drive competition, Sept. 13 through 17, and will culminate Saturday, Sept. 18, on the field of Romney Stadium before the football game against USU. Last year, Utah State stole the “Bleed Red” trophy with almost double the units of blood collected by the U. This year, the University of Utah student body is determined to win back the trophy.

Lori Hacking Scholarship Established at U of U’s David Eccles School of Business

Moved by Lori Hacking’s life and the story of her death, relatives and friends of Lori and her family-even strangers from across the country-have contributed thousands of dollars to the Lori Hacking Memorial Fund. Today the family of Lori Hacking donated the proceeds of this fund to the University of Utah to establish a scholarship in her memory.

U moves up among America’s Best Colleges

The University of Utah ranks 111th out the more than 1,400 colleges and universities surveyed for the 2005 edition of the “America’s Best Colleges” guidebook from U.S. News & World Report. The magazine ranks schools annually based on a complicated system of peer assessments and statistical data. The U moved up seven spots, maintaining its status as a top tier institution.

U of U’s Osher Lifelong Learning Institute To Offer Courses For Mature Learners

Those age 50 and older who seek lifelong learning and enriching educational experiences can preview courses to be offered this fall by the newly formed University of Utah Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI). An open house will be held Tuesday, Aug. 31st, from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m., at the Commander’s House in Fort Douglas, 1965 de Trobriand Street.
