Workers to Celebrate the First Day of Autumn

September 18, 2002 — In an effort to promote a sense of community and environmental awareness, the Bennion Center’s Bend-in-the-River project is hosting an Autumn Equinox celebration on Monday, September 23, from 5:30 p.m. until dark. The event is free and open to the public. Participants will work together to water, mulch and clear weeds at the Bend-in-the-River site, a two-acre urban green space on the Jordan River.

Dinner and an interactive educational program about the Autumnal Equinox will follow the work session and is designed to be a fun and informative event for the whole family. “Working together is a way for the community to celebrate the beginning of fall with friends, families and neighbors as well as make a tangible difference in the Bend-in-the-River area, a space all residents can utilize and enjoy,” says Sonja Hervi, Bend-in-the-River coordinator.

Bend-in-the-River is located at 1030 West Fremont Ave. (approximately 1100 S.) For more information on the Autumn Equinox celebration or the Bend-in-the-River project, please call 801-587-9027.
