U of U Trains Bosnians to Teach Students with Disabilities in Inclusive Settings

In the near future thousands of children with disabilities in Bosnia and Herzegovina will reap the benefits of being educated in inclusive, general education programs, thanks to a joint project between the University of Utah, the University of Maryland, the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), the Joseph P. Kennedy, Jr. Foundation and the Bosnian and Herzegovinian government.

Red Rock Institute Students To Experience The Land And Environmental Issues First-Hand

Consider these facts: Sixty-four percent of Utah is federal land. Seven federally recognized American Indian reservations are located in the Beehive State, set aside as permanent homelands for Navajo, Ute, Goshute and Paiute tribes. Utah is home to 12 national parks and monuments and 15 wilderness areas totaling 750,000 acres. With two of the largest rivers in the West-the Colorado and the Green, numerous remnants from ancient cultures, 3.5 million acres of wilderness study areas and 15 ski resorts on public lands, there is no shortage of conflict on how Utah lands should be used, protected and preserved.

U of U to Break Ground for Orthopedic Center

Breadth and depth are the key words as the University of Utah breaks ground on its Orthopedic Surgery Center June 6. The 100,000-square-foot, three-level facility will incorporate the eight major orthopedic subspecialties including, foot & ankle, hand, oncology, pediatrics, spine, sports medicine, trauma, and adult reconstruction in the same center and give space for more physicians in these areas.

Two-Week Training in Human Services to be Held at University of Utah

The University of Utah College of Social Work will sponsor its annual Summer Institute in Human Services, from July 7 through 18, on the University campus. All courses will be held in the Social Work or nearby buildings. The intensive two-week institute, now in its 19th year, draws more than 1,000 attendees from Utah and across the United States.
