U to Host Volleyball Re-match at Moscow-Utah Youth Games

Russia’s top-level junior age volleyball players will be arriving in Utah on Friday to participate in the Moscow-Utah Youth Games. These games are the winter edition of the Moscow-Utah summer games held in Russia last year. Over 300 of Utah’s finest athletes competed in the summer games in twelve different sports last July. Volleyball is the only sport involved in both the summer and winter edition of these games and promises to offer an exciting rematch between these two teams.

University Neighborhood Partners Initiates Friday Youth Book Exchanges

An ongoing book exchange for elementary school-age children will be launched this Friday, Jan. 23, from 1 until 4 p.m., by University Neighborhood Partners (UNP), a University of Utah office that brings together University and Westside resources for reciprocal learning, action and benefit. (A short program will be held this Friday at 2 p.m.) The Youth Book Exchange allows students in kindergarten through sixth grade to select a book in English or in Spanish from the UNP program, either to keep or to exchange at a later date for another volume. If the student chooses to keep the book, a different text may be exchanged. All elementary school-age children are welcome to participate, although the project will most likely serve students from surrounding Park View, Mountain View and Riley Elementary Schools. Exchanges will be held Fridays, from 1 until 4 p.m., at the UNP office, located at 1060 South 900 West. There is no cost to participate.

Utah Lawmakers to Observe U of U Undergraduate Research at

More than two dozen University of Utah undergraduate students will join counterparts from Utah State University in presenting “Research on the Hill: A Celebration of Undergraduate Research” to Utah State Legislators on Thursday, Jan. 22, from 8 a.m. until 1 p.m., in the rotunda of the State Capitol. The event, now in its fourth year, gives lawmakers the opportunity to review the high quality of education available to undergraduate students at the state’s two public research institutions as demonstrated in the opportunities presented to them to pursue research activities at the cutting-edge in health and physical sciences, engineering, social sciences and creative activities.

Union Board and ASUU to Host Grand Opening of the Campus Organization Resource Center (the CORC)

The scholars program will be used to expand and strengthen teaching and research on global issues at the University of Utah. The Sam Rich Scholars program will bring outstanding academicians to the University of Utah campus and recognize University distinguished scholars for their achievements.
