Community of Caring Names University of Utah Its New National Headquarters

On Thursday, Nov. 11, Community of Caring, a national K-12, whole school character education program pioneered by Eunice Kennedy Shriver and the Joseph P. Kennedy, Jr. Foundation, will announce that it will move its office from its current location in Washington, D.C., to become the National Center for Community of Caring at the University of Utah. The announcement will be made at a news conference at 1:30 p.m. Eastern Standard Time, at the J.W. Marriott Hotel, 1331 Pennsylvania Ave., in Washington, D.C. Shriver, founder and honorary chair of Community of Caring, and University of Utah President Michael Young will give remarks and answer questions.

The promise of good jobs for American college graduates will not hold true in the future because of greatly increased competition from other countries, according to Richard B. Freeman, Ascherman Professor of Economics at Harvard University. “Globalization is the first step in the loss of U.S. dominance of the world economy. We will no longer have ‘monopoly’ of the best technologies and jobs, and others will come closer to our living standards. Almost every multinational firm realizes this and they are investing overseas,” he says.

U of U to Honor 11 Utah Veterans at Annual Commemoration Program

The University of Utah will honor 11 Utah veterans at a full-dress military ceremony as part of its annual Veteran’s Day commemoration program on Thursday, Nov. 11 at 11 a.m. in the Olpin Union Building on campus. Eleven Utah veterans will be presented with honorary medallions for their service to our country by Governor Olene S. Walker. Nearly 100 cadets and midshipmen from the military science ROTC programs will present the ceremony, which will include a 21-gun cannon salute. The honorees were selected from over fifty nominations submitted by Utah citizens. The group of eleven represents all branches of service and those who served in World War II, Korea, and Vietnam.

The proposal to merge both cities has faced decades of interest, numerous studies and widespread attention. How a Hormone Regulates Iron
