November 19, 2008 — For many winter enthusiasts, there is just one word for snow: Utah. And for skiers and boarders lucky enough to study or work in academia in the state there is a single letter: the U.

Powder hungry students, faculty and staff of the University of Utah can partake in the annual take-to-the-slopes-and-celebrate-the-end-of-the-semester event, sponsored by Campus Recreation Services, known as “Ski and Shred Red Day” on Friday, December 12, 2008 at Snowbird Resort, about thirty minutes from campus.

Participants proudly wear the school’s color – red — and take advantage of the early snow and a great deal. Tickets are $38.00 which includes the tram and chair lifts.

Tickets will go on sale on Monday, November 24th at the Outdoor Recreation Program (2140 E. Red Butte Road, Fort Douglas, Building 650), The Union Front Desk, The Field House, 214 E-HPER and the University of Utah Hospital Gift Shop.

The U’s Outdoor Recreation Program also has ski and snowboard equipment available for rent. More information is here: web.utah.edu/campusrec/outdoor_rec/rentals.html. To reserve equipment or ask questions, call the U’s Outdoor Recreation Program at 581-8516.
