Students, Faculty and Staff to Turn the Snow Red

December 1, 2009–Solitude Mountain Resort will host the annual Ski and Shred Red Day on Friday, Dec. 18. The University of Utah and Solitude have teamed up this year for this end-of-the-semester escape where powder-hungry students, faculty and staff from the U can take to the slopes at a big discount.

At the event, sponsored by the U’s Campus Recreation Services, participants proudly wear the school’s color-red-and take advantage of the early snow at a bargain price of $33, which includes access to all chair lifts for the day.

Ski and Shred Red tickets can be purchased at the Outdoor Recreation Program (2140 E. Red Butte Road, Fort Douglas, Building 650), The Olpin Union front desk, The Field House, 214 HPER East and the University of Utah Hospital gift shop.

The U’s mascot, Swoop, will join Ute skiers on the hill to celebrate the end of another successful semester. Solitude has organized a $6.00 lunch special at the Last Chance Lodge. Skiers just need to show their Shred Red ticket to get a burger or dog, fries and a drink.

The U’s Outdoor Recreation Program has ski and snowboard equipment available for rent to the general public at reasonable rates. For more information please visit: www.utah.edu/campusrec/outdoor_rec or call 801-581-3791.
