Outdoor Recreation Program Hosts 2007 Banff Film Festival World Tour


February 13, 2007 — The 31st annual Banff Mountain Film Festival will return to Kingsbury Hall on the campus of the University of Utah February 20-21. Shows start at 7 p.m. each night. This is the 16th year the U’s Outdoor Recreation Program (ORP) has brought the film festival to campus.


Last year’s films were a big hit and tickets are on sale now to the general public. They are available for $7.50 at Kingsbury Hall and REI locations in Salt Lake/Sandy. Call 581-8516 for more information.


The prestigious Banff Mountain Film Festival is presented by National Geographic, Dunham Bootmakers, and Canadian Mountain Holidays. It boasts the world’s best mountain films, videos and speakers. People are invited to experience the adventure of climbing, mountain expeditions, remote cultures, and the world’s last great wild places – all brought to life on the big screen. The Outdoor Recreation Program is a division of Campus Recreation Services and one of the oldest programs of its kind in the western United States; it was formally established in 1976 from a student organized group known as the Ute Alpine Club. The ORP has expanded over the years and now offers learning programs, seminars, trips and equipment rentals.


The ORP services and programs are available to all students, faculty, staff, alumni of the University of Utah, and members of the general public.
