UROP Symposium 2014_658

March 25, 2015 – More than 300 University of Utah undergraduates will present their research and creative projects at the 12th Annual Undergraduate Research Symposium on Tuesday, March 31 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in U’s Olpin Union Building.

The Undergraduate Research Symposium is opportunity for undergraduates of all disciplines across the university to present their work through oral sessions, posters, artistic exhibits or performances. The event is open to the public.

Jill Stephenson, program manager for the U’s Honors College, said “Symposium attendees will have the opportunity to catch a glimpse of the depth and breadth of research opportunities available to undergraduates at a Research I institution. The level of scholarship is truly exceptional and students are tangibly contributing to their disciplines.”

A sample of U student projects include “Quantitative Analysis of Virus Trafficking in a Biological Cell,” “Social Influences of Obesity in Women,” “Purification of Air Using Molecular Modeling and Photocatalytic Nano-Materials” and “Dissecting the Genetic and Learned Components of Oscine Birdsong.”
