February 10, 2010 -The University of Utah will host the 34th annual Banff Mountain Film Festival at Kingsbury Hall Feb. 22-24. This is the 19th year the U’s Outdoor Recreation Program (ORP) has sponsored the film festival, which has been expanded this year to add a third night of films. Shows start at 7 p.m. each night.
Last year’s films were a big hit and tickets are sure to go fast. The following week, the Banff Radical Reels Tour will be held at Kingsbury Hall on Thursday, Mar. 4, at 7:00 p.m. Tickets for both events are on sale now for $8.00 at the ORP building, REI and at Kingsbury Hall. The prestigious Banff Mountain Film Festival is presented by National Geographic and The North Face. It boasts the world’s best mountain films, videos and speakers that promise to exhilarate with amazing big-screen stories. Viewers will journey to exotic locations, paddle the wildest waters and climb the highest peaks.
“It’s going to be hard for the public to look at the list of films and choose just one night to attend,” says Rob Jones, manager of the Outdoor Recreation Program. “But no matter which films they choose to see, they’re not going to leave the theatre disappointed. Hopefully they will be inspired to get out there and get active.”
