WEST SALT LAKE RESIDENTS INVITED TO UNP’S 3rd ANNUAL COMMUNITY DAY

West Salt Lake residents interested in obtaining information about higher education will get a taste of college life through University Neighborhood Partner’s 3rd annual CommUnity Day this Saturday, Nov. 10, 2007 from 10am to 1pm. Families will meet with contacts from over a dozen University departments in the Crimson Room of the Student Union to collect information about pursuing higher education and then cheer for the University of Utah Utes football team later that afternoon. The event will also serve as a way to recognize board members, residents, and faculty partners.

University Seeks Parking Solution for Kingsbury and Gardner Hall Patrons

During the past decade, the renovation and expansion of Kingsbury Hall and David P. Gardner Hall have enabled the University to expand arts and entertainment offerings to the Campus Community and the citizens of the Salt Lake Area and State of Utah. The University is now studying two sites for parking structures to accommodate the growing crowds of patrons attracted to these world class venues and to address a need to improve daytime parking, in the northwest quadrant, for students, faculty, staff and campus visitors.

The University of Utah Announces 2006 Diversity Awards

The University of Utah is pleased to announce the recipients of the 2006 Diversity Awards. Four individuals at the University of Utah will be presented with awards and recognition at the 11th annual Diversity Awards luncheon on December 5. The awards are given each year to outstanding individuals or organizations that demonstrate an active commitment to promoting and enhancing diversity at the University of Utah. According to Karen Dace, University of Utah, Senior Associate Vice President for Diversity, “These awards recognize continuous and consistent efforts of the individuals and campus units to foster a more inclusive climate and create greater access and opportunities for diverse students, staff, and faculty.” This year’s award recipients are Dan Edwards, Steve Nygaard, David Pershing and Wilfred Samuels.

UMFA Exhibition Revisits Utah’s Unique Past

Revisiting Utah’s Past on view at the Utah Museum of Fine Arts from January 14 through July 23, 2006, presents paintings and sculpture from the Museum’s collection that document Utah’s unique history. In partnership with the University of Utah’s J. Willard Marriott Library and the Utah State Historical Society, the exhibition also includes historical interpretive materials such as photographs, books, and journals that provide additional perspectives and connections to artists’ perceptions.
