Humanitarian Paul Famer to Deliver U of U Tanner Lecture on Human Values

Medical anthropologist, physician and humanitarian Paul Farmer will give this year’s University of Utah Tanner Lecture on Human Values, titled “Can Human Rights Survive? Reflections on Inequality and Modernity,” on Wednesday, March 30, at 8 p.m., in the Utah Museum of Fine Arts’ Dumke Auditorium, 370 S. 1530 E. The lecture is free and open to the public.

Utah Ballet “Tribute” to Include Two World Premieres

The University of Utah’s resident ballet company, Utah Ballet, recognized as one of the finest collegiate dance groups in America, will present its fall concert, “Tribute,” which will include two world premiere pieces, Nov. 17 through 20, at 7:30 p.m. The event also celebrates Kingsbury Hall’s 75th anniversary. Tickets are $16, $12 and $8, with U of U and group discounts available. Tickets may be purchased at the U’s Olpin Union main desk, through ArtTix outlets, or by calling 801-581-7100 or 801-355-ARTS.

Conference on Gender, Diversity and Identity at U of U Next Week

The “Student Conference on Gender, Diversity, and Identity: An International and Interdisciplinary Women’s Forum” will be held this Friday, March 5, from 9 a.m. until 5:30 p.m. in the University of Utah’s Olpin Union Saltair Room. The event’s keynote speaker will be Michele Moody-Adams, Hutchinson Professor of Ethics and Public Life at Cornell University. The conference will open with remarks by Barbara Snyder, University vice president for Student Affairs. The conference is sponsored by numerous University administrators, colleges, departments and programs on the U campus as well as Utah Valley State College’s Center for Ethics. The conference is free and open to the public.
