| Kick-off celebration Sept. 14, 11:00 a.m. — 3:00 p.m., Marriott Library Plaza |

The College of Fine Arts is proud to have launched the new U & the Arts Program, a campus-wide enterprise in August 2011. This program allows all matriculated University of Utah students free access to all Fine Arts departmental events, two free tickets at student rush hour to Pioneer Theatre Company productions, and $5 tickets for Kingsbury Hall Presents events.

The U & the Arts Program came to fruition after three years of hard work by the College of Fine Arts administration, faculty and students and is fully supported by many entities at the University including the Office of the President, the Board of Trustees, Senior Vice President of Academic Affairs, Senior Associate Vice President for Undergraduate Studies, the Dean’s of the Colleges of Education, Law, Engineering, Pharmacy, Health, and Humanities, the Honors College, the University of Utah LEAP Program and the Associated Students of the University of Utah, to name a few.

“We are tremendously excited to be able to offer these free arts opportunities to the student body at large,” said Raymond Tymas-Jones, Dean of the College of Fine Arts and Associate Vice President for the Arts. “Experiencing art in any form is part of being human and a valuable tool in education no matter what field of study a student may be pursuing.”

The U & the Arts Program is the first major step in a larger initiative, for which the College of Fine Arts is serving as a driving force, to identify the University of Utah as the first “Creative Campus University” in the Intermountain West. The goals of the Creative Campus Initiative are to establish educational settings that infuse the arts with the multiple academic disciplines, foster creativity in all disciplines, promote interdisciplinary projects and encourage new ways of solving problems and expressing ideas. This nation-wide trend serves as the catalyst for the U & the Arts Program and the College of Fine Arts and our numerous partners are hopeful that all students will take advantage of the opportunity to amplify their education through the arts.

Please join us for a kick-off celebration on Sept. 14th from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM on the Marriott Library Plaza.
