Aug. 20, 2012 — Historical photos and ephemera celebrating the University of Utah’s football tradition is on display at the J. Willard Marriott Library, just in time for the start of the upcoming football season.
The exhibition features a range of items selected from the Library’s Special Collections, including photos dating back to the early 1900’s, football gear, programs and yearbooks. It is free and open to the public and runs through September 28, 2012.
Among the items on display that Utah fans of all ages will enjoy include:
- Films of games dating back to the 1930s, including a Thanksgiving Day game with David O. McKay;
- 1930s uniform donated by the U’s Athletics Department;
- 1940s movie camera used in filming games;
- Panel display on the 1964 Liberty Bowl played indoors in Atlantic City;
- A “Guess Who” panel where visitors can take a stab at identifying players, coaches, and games.
The exhibition is in the George S. Eccles Special Collections Reading Room on level 4 of the U’s J. Willard Marriott Library. Parking is available in the bookstore lot, west of the library. Hours are Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and Saturdays from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. The exhibition is closed on Sunday.
