April 24, 2003 — Every year the David Eccles School of Business at the University of Utah presents its Distinguished Alumni Award to three alumni who embody the qualities of superior service and commitment to the School, its students, and the community. This year the awards will be presented at the Graduation Ceremony on Friday, May 2 at 2:00 in the Jon M. Huntsman Center.
The three who will be honored are: Ramon E. Johnson, Professor of Finance at the David Eccles School, for his long career of teaching excellence and commitment to the School and its students; Scott Nelson, retired President and CEO of First Security Bank, for his business success and years of service to the community and the School; Senator Jake Garn, for his adventurous spirit that has led him to do so much valuable work in many capacities for the country, state, city, and the School.
Jack Brittain, Dean of the David Eccles School of Business, said this award sets an important example for current and graduating students. “The Distinguished Alumni Awards honor individuals whose achievements and contributions are invaluable,” he said. “These people serve as role models for the current generation of David Eccles School students.”
