Kaplan and the University of Utah Launch Global Pathways Program for International Students

Kaplan, the global education company, and the University of Utah have agreed to establish a Global Pathways Program starting in January 2010 that will prepare students from around the world for admission to the university.

The innovative 12-month program combines intensive English language training, university study skills preparation and the first year of a bachelor’s degree program. Students who successfully complete this program can progress directly into the second year, choosing from among 75 different majors.

Kaplan will provide marketing, recruitment and admissions support, as well as a wide range of student support services, from assisting with applications and immigration requirements to arranging accommodation. The university will provide the academic and English language instruction.

University of Utah President Michael Young said: “Recruiting students from abroad is an important part of our growing focus on internationalization. We are pleased to partner with Kaplan, combining our unique educational strengths with their experience in recruiting extraordinary students from other lands. We look forward to this partnership leading to increased enrollment of international students at the University of Utah.”

The University of Utah has more than 2,000 international students and scholars from more than 110 countries. The campus houses a Middle East Center and Confucius Institute and has been recognized internationally for its educational innovation. The university is ranked in America’s top 100 public universities and in the world’s top 100 business schools. Together, we will build a high quality program, tailored to the needs of international students pursuing a bachelor’s degree at the university.”

The university is located in Salt Lake City with the amenities of a large city, including an international airport, excellent public transportation network and vibrant cultural scene in a safe and supportive environment and at a reasonable cost of living.
