UMFA Executive Director Selected for Prestigious Getty Leadership Institute

The Utah Museum of Fine Arts (UMFA) at the University of Utah is pleased to announce that Executive Director Gretchen Dietrich has been selected as one of thirty-nine museum executives worldwide for the Getty Leadership Institute’s prestigious 2014 Executive Education Program for Museum Leaders. Dietrich, 46, is the first woman from Utah chosen for the program.

University of Utah Announces Gift for Transformative Entrepreneur Building

The Lassonde Entrepreneur Institute at the University of Utah announced today a $12 million gift from Pierre Lassonde, bringing his total contribution to $25 million. The new donation will be used for a transformative building for student entrepreneurs. Estimated to cost $45 million, the 148,000-square-feet facility will unite 412 residences with 20,000-square-foot “garage” space for students to gather, build prototypes and launch companies. Officials expect the building to catapult the university’s reputation for entrepreneurship education.

U Explores Lives and Legacies of Three Prominent LDS Intellectuals

The Tanner Humanities Center at the University of Utah celebrates its 25th anniversary with a symposium focused on the legacy of three men who served the LDS Church, the U, their state and the nation in pursuit of more enlightened and humane society. The contemporary impacts of Lowell Bennion, Sterling McMurrin and Obert Tanner will be examined April 11 – 12. All events are free and open to the public.
